Some travel shots from Timbuktu that didn’t make the portfolio cut. It was such an amazing location, I just have to post more pictures.

Matt - good stuff. These hardly appear to be "outtakes" - but as these things go - it's difficult keep the portfolio concise if you add everything. Definitely dig your post processing.

Hey Matt,

Love the final image (4-tb2-post-copy-2.jpg) - especially the post processing. Whenever i shoot very dark skin I struggle with how much to lighten it and still keep an authentic feel. I feel you have really nailed it in this image. Can you provide a few pointers on the tools / workflow you used on this one - seems vaguely HDR-ish?

Thanks everyone for the feedback. It's really helpful for me as I don't get it much in my day to day life. I'll have to work up a response about my post-processing technique. There's truthfully not much to it….. P.S. Feel free to let me know how I might make my blog more interesting/enjoyable for readers.

I wish I had such outtakes! Man, these are sweet! I love the shot of the Arabic writing on the slate. I think I am really into detail shots lately. Well done Matt.

I use Lightroom for processing my images. Not much of a science really. I generally just play around until I find a look that I like, sometimes starting with a preset, then duplicate that onto other images as needed. What is a gradient map anyway…?
